Explanation:

number of female doctors that year = 53,400

as a percentage of the total no of docors =31.9%

31.9%------->53,400

so 1%-------->53,400/31.9

so the rest of percentage must be the no of male docors..... so (100-31.9) % = 68.1%

so 68.1%----------> (53,400/31.9)×68.1

so total no of docors= [(53,400/31.9)×68.1]+53,400

= 167398.1

or

31.9%------->53,400

so 1%-------->53,400/31.9

100%-------->(53400/31.9 )×100

so total no of docors = (53400/31.9 )×100

~ approximately 167398 doctors
