distribute -2 to each number in the parenthesis
-2x + 12 < 8
subtract 12 from both sides
-2x + 12 - 12 < 8 - 12
-2x < -4
-2x/-2 < -4/-2
divide both sides by -2 and flip the inequality sign because you divided by a negative number.
X > 2
