Answer:

Explanation:

4(x+2)+6=26

First: substract 6 from both sides, like this:

4(x+2)+6=26

-6 -6

Then when you do this subtract something from both sides you cross one out, cross the one out that looks the same, so the 6 and 6 you canceled them out, no you just subtract 6 from 26, like this:

4(x+2)+6=26

-6 -6

———————

4(x+2)=20

Now you distribute the 4 to the x and the 2, it is just multiplication, so it would be 4 times x and then 4 times 2 and you would get this:

4x+8=20

No you just have a simple equation, what you do is subtract 8 from both sides, cross out the two 8’s on the left side of the equal sign, and then substract 8 from 20:

So then you would get:

4x=12

Next you would just dive by 4 on both sides, like this:

4x/4 = 12/4

Next you would cross out the 4’s on the left side of the equal sign because they cancel out and now you are just left with:

X= 12/4 or 3

Distribute through the parentheses, Add the numbers , Move constant to the right-hand side and change its sign , Subtract the numbers , Divide both sides of the equation by answer x=3
