A community is planning to build a rectangular garden. The width of the garden is 17 /4 feet (ft), and the perimeter of the garden is 24.5 ft. The community planners want to spread mulch on the entire garden. How many square feet of mulch will be needed?

Answer:

34 square feet

Explanation:

First, you need to find the other side of the garden in order to find the area a=l*w

The formula to find the length is, p-w*2=x x÷2=l

because, perimeter is l+l+w+w and area is just l*w

4.25*2=8.50

24.50-8.50=16

16÷2=8

l=8

So now we need to multiply the length and width to get the area.

8*4.25=34 sq. ft.

I hope that helps!
