and b is the y-intercept

first, find the slope:

find a point on the graph and count how many cells you have to go down and over to get to the next point.

in this case, for each point, you have to go 2 down and 1 right.

The slope must be negative because the line is going across the graph from top-left to bottom-right

because slope is always rise/run, the slope of this line is -2/1, or just -2

Next, find the y-intercept:

look at the line on the graph where x=0

follow it down until you find a point

this is the y-intercept

in this case it is (0, -2)

but in equations we only use the y value of this point

So, the equation is y = -2x - 2
