What is the value of x in the following equation? x2 - 1 = 8

First break it apart by taking the x2 and set it aside then add 8 + 1 which is 9.

Next take the 9 and divide it by 2 then you get 4.5.

To double check make sure to multiply 4.5 by 2 just to make sure it gets 9 as the answer.
