Answer:

\boxed{ \bold{ \huge{ \boxed{ \sf{y = 10}}}}}

Explanation:

\sf{8(7 - y) = - 24}

Distribute 8 through the parentheses

\longrightarrow{ \sf{8 * 7 - 8 * y = - 24}}

\longrightarrow{ \sf{56 - 8y = - 24}}

Move 56 to right hand side and change it's sign

\longrightarrow{ \sf{ - 8y = - 24 - 56}}

The negative integers are always added but posses the negative ( - ) sign

\longrightarrow{ \sf{ - 8y = - 80}}

Divide both sides by -8

\longrightarrow{ \sf{ ( - 8y)/( - 8) = ( - 80)/( - 8) }}

Calculate

\longrightarrow{ \sf{y = 10}}

Hope I helped!

Best regards! :D
