Answer:

-13, -11, -9 and -7

Explanation:

If z is any integer then 2z is even number and 2z+1 is odd number.

The consecutive odd numbers following 2z+1 would be:

2z+1+2 = 2z+3

2z+3+2 = 2z+5

2z+5+2 = 2z+7

the sum is -40 so:

2z+1 + 2z+3 + 2z+5 + 2z+7 = -40

8z + 16 = -40

8z = -56

z = - 7

2z+1 = 2(-7)+1 = -14+1 = -13

2z+3 = 2(-7)+3 = -11

2z+5 = 2(-7)+5 = -9

2z+7 = 2(-7)+7 = -7

Check:

-13+(-11)+(-9)+(-7) = -40
