Part 2: How much toilet paper do you really need to be prepared for long-term

isolation? Assume the average person uses 10 sheets of toilet paper each time
they use the toilet, and this occurs on average 3 times per day. How many rolls of
toilet paper (250 sheets/roll) does a family of four need per week of stay-at-home
social distancing? SHOW ALL OF YOUR WORK!

Answer:

4 rolls

Explanation:

We can use logic to find how many rolls of toilet paper you would need.

If you use 10 sheets of toilet paper every time you use the toilet, and this happens 3 times a day, then each person per day uses
10\cdot 3 = 30 sheets of toilet paper per day.

For a 4 family household with 4 people, that would be
30 \cdot 4 =120 sheets every day for the whole family.

For a week (7 days) the whole family would use
120 \cdot 7 = 840 sheets per week.

If rolls of toilet paper are shipped by every 250 sheets, then we'd need
840 / 250 = 3.36 rolls.

We can't have 0.36 of a roll, so we round up to 4 so we have enough.

Hope this helped!
