D = 60-11t, what t is the time in minutes and D is the distance from the finish line in metres.
Approximately how far from the finish line is Maya after 2.4 min?

this is equal to $ 12

Sub in 2.4 for t to find D

D = 60 - 11 t

D = 60 - 11 (2.4) = 33.6 meters

your question SHOULD read: D is the distance from the finish line in KILOmetres. then the answer would be 33.6 km instead of 33.6 m

33.6 km is approximately 34 km

(I also suspect that t should be in HOURS not minutes and 2.4 should be hours.... this would give her a finish time of 5.45 HOURS for a marathon instead of 5.45 MINUTES !!! )
