One of the great challenges of today's world education is to promote reading habits among students. Promoting reading itself is already commonplace in our schools, with the application of texts frequently, where students are charged with the full interpretation of these texts. However, promoting the reading habit becomes much more important than promoting reading and that is what schools should focus on.
The habit of reading enriches the vocabulary, the way of expressing oneself, writing, communication, critical thinking and reasoning constantly. It is necessary that our students feel the pleasure of reading, so that these characteristics, so necessary in society, are stimulated spontaneously, in a pleasant way and without the burden of the obligation of homework.
A country where education encourages the reading habit of its people, is a country that invests in the power of each citizen. By reading, citizens accumulate knowledge and the capacity to debate efficiently against injustices and national problems, demanding and achieving resolutions to the social problems present in the country. In addition, a reading people is one who is not fooled by fanciful, violent and lying politics, as they make coherent and important choices for their country.
Therefore, we can affirm that reading, the habit of reading is the true and only weapon that we must defend in this country, being the most powerful and strong of all and the only one that can really protect us.
