so
(-9,3) and (-1,1)
to get from the first point to the second, you move right 8 (-9 to -1) and down 2 (3 to 1)
when writing the slope you put the change in y (-2) on the top, and the change in x (8) on the bottom

-2/8 → -1/4

the formula is
(y2 - y1) / (x2 - x1)
