Constantinople fell May 29, 1453.

The reason why the falling of Constantinople was so significant was because it was one of the major turning points in history. The falling affecting trade, influenced the Renaissance, and expanded the Ottoman empire. This was especially significant for Islam because it represented a MAJOR defeat for Christians. Muslims during this time rejoiced because of Constantinople's falling. The falling also represented the end of the Eastern Roman Empire and the rising power of the Ottoman Empire & Islam. A good portion of the world during this time were affected by the falling of this great empire.
