A bag contains 8 red marbles, 7 blue marbles and 5 green marbles. If two marbles are drawn out of the bag, what is the probability, to the nearest 1000th, that both marbles drawn will be green?

Answer:

Probability that both marbles drawn will be green = 1 / 20

Explanation:

(It is assumed that marbles are not returned in the bag)


p(1st \: marble \: drawn \: is \: green) = (5)/(20)


p(2nd \: marble \: drawn \: is \: green) = (4)/(20)

Multiplying theses we get :


p(both \: marbles \: drawn \: are \: green) = (5)/(20) * (4)/(20) = (1)/(20)
