The ratio 3:2:x may also be written as Nicole:oluwatomi:muna which means that Nicole is 3y olwatomi is 2y and muna is xy. We also know that all their values together add up to 500

Using the information above we can set up an equation:

3y+2y+xy=500. If’s you simplify this equation you get 5y+xy=500

Going onto the next step we know that Nicole’s share is 150. We can set up an equation using this information:

150=3y. After simplifying we know that y=50

So if we go back to our first equation: 5y+xy=500 we can substitute y with 50.

5*50+x*50=500 after we solve this equation we can get the result X=5
