Answer:

L=11

W=6

Explanation:

2L + 2W = 34 => W+L = 17

L - W = 5 => L = 5+W

so

W + 5+W = 17

2W = 17-5

W = 6

L = 11

Answer:

The length of the rectangle is

11cm

Explanation:

Perimeter of a rectangle = 2l + 2w

where l is the length

w is the width

difference between the length and width is 5

That's

l - w = 5

Making w the subject

w = l - 5

Perimeter of the rectangle is 34cm

So we have

34 = 2l + 2( l - 5)

34 = 2l + 2l - 10

4l = 34 + 10

4l = 44

Divide both sides by 4

l = 11

Therefore the length of the rectangle is

11cm

Hope this helps you
