What are the solution(s) to the quadratic equation 40 – x2 = 0?

√(10).

Explanation:

40 - x^2 = 0

Subtract 40 from both sides

-x^2 = -40

Divide both sides by -1

x^2 = 40

Find the square root of both sides

x = ±
√(40)

x = ±
√(2 * 2 * 2 * 5)

x = ±
√(2^2 * 2 * 5)

x = ±2
√(2 * 5)

x = ±2
√(10)
