work out AB using Pythagoras theorem

AB = 23.40 cm

Solution,

Base ( BC ) = 22 cm

Perpendicular ( AC) = 8 cm

Hypotenuse (AB) = ?

Now,

Using the Pythagoras theorem:

`{h}^(2) = {p}^(2) </strong><strong>+</strong><strong> {b}^(2)`

`{h}^(2) = {(8)}^(2) </strong><strong>+</strong><strong> {(22)}^(2)`

`{h}^(2) = 64 + 484`

`{h}^(2) = 548`

`h = √(548)`

`h = 23.40 \: cm`
