Using Pythagoras theorem work out the length of AB

ABC is a triangle,
1 side is 22 cm 1 side is 8 cm
1 side is unknown the
1 unknown side is unknown
work out AB using Pythagoras theorem

Answer:

AB = 23.40 cm

Solution,

Base ( BC ) = 22 cm

Perpendicular ( AC) = 8 cm

Hypotenuse (AB) = ?

Now,

Using the Pythagoras theorem:


{h}^(2) = {p}^(2) </strong><strong>+</strong><strong> {b}^(2)


{h}^(2) = {(8)}^(2) </strong><strong>+</strong><strong> {(22)}^(2)


{h}^(2) = 64 + 484


{h}^(2) = 548


h = √(548)


h = 23.40 \: cm
