30 students, along with some of their parents, are going to a trip to Washington DC. Some of the adults are driving cars, and each car can accommodate up to 5 people including the driver. What is the smallest number of adults that should be invited on the trip to get all 30 students to Washington?

Answer: 8 adults

Explanation:

Number of students = 30

Adults accompanying the students are to drive:

Each car can accommodate 5 passengers including the driver. That is, 4 students and the driver.

In other to get the 30 students to Washington :

Number of cars / adults = (Total students / number of students each car can accommodate)

= 30 / 4

= 7. 50

= 8 (to the nearest whole number)

The smallest number of adults that should be invited for the trip will 8 since they will be the one's to drive the students.
