His laws aimed to establish equality for all male citizens. Napoleon also succeeded in expanding his empire in Europe through the Napoleonic Wars. His military dominance of Europe angered other European countries, which joined forces to successfully dethrone him. They stripped Napoleon of power and exiled him to Saint Helena in 1815. He died due to deteriorating health issues.
