what is the chain-like structure in your body that codes for all your traits? is this different for all species?

I’m pretty sure the answer to this one is your DNA, if the question was meant visually. DNA is different for all species because it increases genetic variation. If we all had the same DNA, we would all be likely to have the same phenotype as a physical result of our genetic coding
