Ariel completed the work below to show that a triangle with side lengths of 9, 15, and 12 does not form a right triangle.

9 squared + 15 squared = 12 squared. 81 + 225 = 144. 306 not-equals 144.
Is Ariel’s answer correct?

Answer:

The question's most likely incorrect

Explanation:

Because if it were to be rearranged as 15 being the hypotenuse, and 9 and 12 being the two other sides, that would have been more valid.

Because according to Pythagoras, 15 squared = 12 squared + 9 squared

225 = 144 + 81.

And then it WOULD form a right angled triangle.
