5. A silo was constructed at a farm in the shape of a right circular cylinder. It was built with an

approximate volume of 842,411 cubic meters and a height of 85 meters. What was the length of the diameter
of the base, to the nearest meter?

Answer: 112 meters

Explanation:

Hi, to answer this question we have to apply the next formula:

  • Volume of a cylinder (V) : π x radius ² x height

Replacing with the values given :

842,411 = π x r ² x 85

Solving for r:

842,411 / (π x 85) = r²

3,154.67 = r²

√3,154.67 = r

56.16 m = r

Finally, we have to multiply the radius by 2 to obtain the diameter:

56.16 x 2 = 112 meters
