Explanation:

if you imagine the shape in your head, there would be 3 rectangles and 2 triangles.

so if you want the surface area of the entire shape, you have to add the areas of each of these sides

the area of 1 triangle is (1*1)/2 = 0.5

the area of 1 rectangle is more complicated:

you would have to work out the rectangles height, which is the hypotenuse of the triangle. so you use Pythagoras, and you get 1 (if you don't know how to do this search up Pythagoras theorem)

so now you can get the area of the rectangle: 1*2 = 2

3 rectangles : 2*3 = 6

2 triangles : 0.5 * 2 = 1

6+1 = 7

tbh I'm not sure if you need to do all of this since it does say "estimate" but I'm not sure how you would estimate it.

LA (Lateral area) = P (perimeter of the base) x h (distance between bases)

LA = 3 x 2

LA = 6

SA (surface area) = LA (Lateral area) + (2 x B (Area of the base))

SA = 6 + (2 x 0.25)

SA = 6.5m²
