Answer: The area is 39.6

Explanation:

First multiply 5.5×5.5= 30.25

Then subtract 8.9 - 5.5=3.4

Then multiply 5.5 x 3.4=18.7

Divide 18.7/2=9.35

Add 30.25 + 9.35 =39.6

b x h ÷2

l *w=a

Hope this helps.

Answer:

The area of trapezoid is 39.6cm²

Explanation:

Given that the formula of area of trapezoid is A = 1/2×(a+b)×h where a and b is the length and h is the height. So you have to substitute the values into the formula :

area = (1)/(2) * (a + b) * h

let \: a \: = 8.9 \\ let \: b \: = 5.5 \\ let \: h \: = 5.5

area = (1)/(2) * (8.9 + 5.5) * 5.5

area = (1)/(2) * 14.4 * 5.5

area = (1)/(2) * 79.2

area = 39.6 {cm}^(2)
