Explanation:

Sum the parts of the ratio, 2 + 1 = 3 parts

Divide the area by 3 to find the value of one part of the ratio.

36 cm² ÷ 3 = 12 cm² ← value of 1 part of the ratio , thus

2 parts = 2 × 12 = 24 cm²

area of A = 12 cm² and area of B = 24 cm²
