Rewrite this expression using fewer terms.
3(x - 2) + 4(x - 2) – 5(x - 2)

Solution,

3(x-2)+4(x-2)-5(x-2)

= 3x-6+4x-8-5x+10

= 3x+4x-5x-6-8+10

= 7x-5x-14+10

= 2x-4

=2(x-2)

Simplify.

Distribute:

=(3)(x)+(3)(−2)+(4)(x)+(4)(−2)+(−5)(x)+(−5)(−2)

=3x+−6+4x+−8+−5x+10

Combine Like Terms:

=3x+−6+4x+−8+−5x+10

=(3x+4x+−5x)+(−6+−8+10)

=2x+−4
