10.5 divided by 3 = 3.5 (rate)

If you have how many miles he walked and the time he completed it in; you can just divide the miles by the time to get the rate of how fast he walked those miles. This is because you have an overall mile rate and time you just need to figure out how many miles per hour which is why you divide. Think of it as a ratio 10.5:3 vs 3.5:1. Try to get the right side of the ration down to 1 by dividing both sides by the right side.

Hope this helps, sorry I’m bad at explaining

Answer:

Oscar walked at the same rate for distance D = 10.5 miles.

He completed his walk in time T = 3 hours.

=>Oscar's rate, in miles per hour, during his walk:

R = D/T = 10.5/3 = 3.5 (mile/hour)

Hope this helps!
