A. 9 + 5 = 14 so NO

B. 8 + 5 = 13 which is less than 14 so NO

C. 5 + 5 = 10 which is less than 14 so NO

D. 12 + 5 = 16 which is greater than 14.

12 + 5 > 14

14 + 12 > 5

5 + 14 > 12

It works for all 3. That means the answer is D.
