Answer: x > 7

Step-by-step explanation: Just like any of your two-step equations, in this inequality, start by isolating the x term which in this case is 2x by subtracting 16 from both sides.

That leaves you with 14 < 2x.

To get x by itself, divide both sides by 2 and 7 < x.

I like to put my variable on the left side but if we do that,

we must switch the direction of the inequality sign.

So 7 < x is the same as x > 7.

However, 7 < x is still the right answer, just a matter of preference.
