Answer:

Total number of student tickets sold were 449.

Explanation:

Let the number of student tickets sold = a

and the number of non student tickets = b

Total number of tickets sold = 924

So, a + b = 924 ------(1)

Students ticket costs $2 per ticket and non student ticket costs $3 per ticket and total amount collected = $2323

Therefore, the equation will be,

2a + 3b = 2323 --------(2)

Multiply equation (1) by 3 and subtract from equation (2)

(2a + 3b) - 3(a + b) = 2323 - 2772

2a - 3a + 3b - 3b = -449

-a = -449

a = 449

From equation (1)

b = 924 - a

b = 924 - 449

b = 475

Therefore, total number of student tickets sold were 449.
