2 for 8
seconds. If it then continues with constant velocity, what distance will the car cover in 12
seconds since it started from the rest?

Answer:

D = 320 m

Step-by-step explanation:

Initial speed of the car is 0 as it was at rest.

Acceleration of the car along x axis is 5 m/s² for 8 seconds

Let d is the distance covered by the car in first 8 seconds. So,

d=ut+(1)/(2)at^2\\\\d=(1)/(2)* 5* 8^2\\\\d=160\ m

The velocity attained in 8 seconds is given by :

v=u+at\\\\v=5* 8\\\\v=40\ m/s

Let d' is the distance covered by the car in next 4 seconds. So,

d'=40* 4=160\ m

Total distance covered by the car is :

D = d +d'

D= 160 m + 160 m

D = 320 m

So, the car will cover a distance of 320 m since it started from the rest.
