A farmer sells 6.9 kilograms of apples and pears at the farmer's market. 2 5 of this weight is apples, and the rest is pears. How many kilograms of pears did she sell at the farmer's market?

Given;

Total mass of apple and pear sold = 6.9kg

Mass of apple sold = 2.5 kg

Mass of pear sold = p

The total mass of apple and pear sold is the sum of the mass of apple and mass of pear sold.

Total mass = mass of apple + mass of pear

Mass of pear = total mass - mass of apple sold

Substituting the given values;

Mass of pear p = 6.9 kg - 2.5kg = 4.4kg
