What happens to a dream deferred?

Does it dry up

like a raisin in the sun?

Or fester like a sore—

And then run?

Does it stink like rotten meat?

Or crust and sugar over—

like a syrupy sweet?


Maybe it just sags

like a heavy load.

The connection I can make between the poem "Harlem" and myself is on the need not to defer any of my dreams.

For example, if my dream was to become a Nurse but due to finances, was unable to enter into college, I should still keep the dream alive rather than forgeting it entirely.

Forsaking a dream would create the doubt of "What would ahve happened if I didn't or Had I known...."
