2. Medicare & Medicaid

they were the first step in America having basic health insurance for the elderly, sick and poor

they are insurance more than charity

private insurers didnt cover the elderly & sick because it would be bad for business

private insurers rely on healthy people who dont need healthcare to create a pool of money to, in part, cover those who get sick

private insurers prefer to cover employees of jobs because companies buy the insurance in bulk. they tend not to nickel and dime people whohave insurance through their jobs

private insurers didnt cover poor because they couldnt afford the private insurance

3. reason given was called the domino effect

government said if vietnam became communist then other countries would become communist too

not justified because vietnam war was a war of independence against the french

it later became a civil war between the north and south

communist won anyways

even though communists won vietnam is basically a capitalist country now
