Using the formula a² + b² = c², we can plug in those two numbers, which I assume are the legs, to get our answer.

- Once we plug it in, we have to isolate the variable.

THEN

- We must square root (√) the final answer. Like so:

6.4² + 8.9² = c²

DO: The variable is already isolated, so we must do this a little differently. We'll square each number like it shows, and then add the two numbers together.

6.4² = 40.96

8.9² = 79.21

NOW: We can add them together.

40.96 + 79.21 = 120.17

LOOK: 120.17 = c²

We must now get rid of the 2, by square rooting both sides!

10.9622078068 = c

TO THE NEAREST WHOLE NUMBER: 11
