Plzzz help me! If you're in online school and you fail, will you be able to go to public school and still be put in the right grade this year

I mean, if you fail online school for the entire year I would assume they would have to make you repeat the year. However, if it was only for a semester or quarter they would most likely put you in some kind of summer school or remediation classes.
