Which of the following is NOT a way of calculating slope?

m = rise / run
B
m = change in y / change in x
C
m = y2 - y1 / x2 - x1
D
m = 0 - y / 0 - x

Answer:

D. m = 0 - y / 0 - x

Explanation:

It is not a way of calculating the slope.

The other ways :

  • A. m = rise / run [correct]
  • B. change in y / change in x [correct]
  • C. y₂ - y₁ / x₂ - x₁ [correct]

All of these methods represent the same way, but represented in different forms, to find the slope.

Hence, only D is not a way of calculating the slope.
