The cross section (aka the triangle on the front) is the first thing to figure out. The formula for a triangle is the base (or the length of the bottom) times the height divided by two. Then you multiply that by the length of the prism. The answer comes out being 3 because you multiply 2 by 1 the divide by 2. You can then multiply by 3 to get the answer.

Answer:

17.6

Explanation:

I like to approach surface area problems by solving the invdividual 2d shapes on the figure.

First we will solve the triangle(s)

1/2xbh=a

1/2x2=a

1=a

As there is another triangle reflected behind it we so far have 2 units.

Now we solve the 3 rectangles in the figure

3x2.2 = 6.6 (first slanted rectangle)
3x1= 3 (bottom rectangle)

2x3=6 (side rectangle)

Now we add up all our units

2 + 6 + 3 + 6.6

17.6 = SA
