A soup can has a height of 3.5 inches and a diameter of 2.5 inches. What is the volume of the can? Round to the nearest tenth.

Answer: 17.2

Explanation:

The formula for the volume of a cylinder is
V=\pi r^(2) h

to find the radius divide the diameter by 2
2.5/2=1.25

plug in and solve
V=\pi (1.25)^(2) (3.5)\\V=\pi (1.5625)(3.5)\\V=5.46875\pi \\V=17.2
