Area of semicircle= 1/2 area of circle


area \: of \: circle = \pi {r}^(2)

Thus,


area \: of \: semicircle = (1)/(2) \pi {r}^(2)

Given that the diameter is 10 units,

radius= 10÷2

radius= 5 units

subst. r=5 into the formula:

Area of semicircle


= (1)/(2) (\pi)( {5}^(2) ) \\ = (25)/(2) \pi \\ = 12.5\pi \: units^(2)
