Forty-seven years before Mr. Green Genes was born, a scientist wanted to learn how these jellyfish glow. The scientist peered into a bay as water lapped against the wooden dock. Cells in the bodies of animals and humans make many kinds of proteins. These proteins build muscle, carry messages, and do other jobs.
