The length of a rectangular garden is 6 feet more than three times its width.

The perimeter of the garden is 76 feet. Find the length and width of the garden.

Answer:

Width of rectangle = 8 feet

Length of rectangle = 30 feet.

Explanation:

Let the width of garden be X meter.

Given length of garden is thrice the width of garden added with 6 feet.

Mathematically length of garden in terms of X will be

length of garden = 3X (thrice the width of garden) + 6

Perimeter of garden is 76 feet.

Formula to calculate perimeter of rectangle is = 2( length * width)

Perimeter of garden = 2( length * width)

Substituting value of Perimeter of garden and length and width of garden in terms of X we have given below equation

76 = 2 ( X +3X+6)

=> 76/2 = 4X + 6

=> 38 - 6 = 4X

=> X = 32/4 = 8

Therefore

width of rectangle = X = 8 feet

Length of rectangle = 3X+6 = 3*8 + 6 = 30 feet.
