An art conservator works to conserve artifact, by performing tasks that involve preserving analyzing and restoring artwork. The role involves specialization in specific art object types including textiles, sculptures, books, and paintings.
It is important for an art conservator to know both chemistry and art history because the art conservator needs to be aware of the methods by which an art was manufactured, the mechanism by which the art can be damaged, and the history why and where the art was made
The reasons the above response is correct are as follows:
Art conservators work as freelancers, or staff to places that deal with art material such as art galleries and museum
The job of art conservation can be very complex and require the input of skills from different disciplines. Important knowledge requirement to perform art conservation includes manufacturing methods, processes and mechanism by which an art can be damaged and the period of production of an artwork and why the artwork was made
Therefore, the knowledge requirement of an art conservator includes both science, such as chemistry, and physics and also history to work with art that was made at a different time and place
