What does x equal in x plus 6 =2x plus 3

x + 6= 2x + 3

what you would do to find the answer is first subtract the coeffcient 2 on both sides of the equation. ( Subtract the 2 under 2x for the right side of the equation and subtract 2 under the x on the left side. ) Then you would subtract 6 on both sides. (subtract 6 under the 6 on the left side of the equation and subtract 6 under the number 3 on the right side of the equation)

so that would give you -x = -3 However you would have to eliminate the x on the right side of the equation and so you would divide positive x (also known as 1x) on both sides. -1x/-1 = -1 and -3/-1 = 3
