PlZZ explain. I"m confused.

How to know if a number that is square rooted is rational or irrational?

Explanation:

when you put the number and the square root in the calculator, always at the same time, you should either get a number with a bunch of numbers after the decimal point or not very many. for example, a rational number could be
\sqrt{9 = 3 where as the numbers could be multiplied (3x3=9). and a irrational number is like
\sqrt{5 = 2.2360679775, so they cannot be multiplied to get 5. hope this helps!
