Answer: The original could have been 10 yards by 10 yards

Explanation:

If the new rectangle is 4 square yards, its sides could be 2 by 2 or 1 by 4.

If the original was dialated by 1/5, multiple the dimensions by the reciprocal, 5, to find the original dimensions.

2 × 5 = 10 1 × 5 = 5 4 × 5 = 20

5 yards by 20 yards is not an option given, but 10 yards by 10 yards is possible. None of the other options will work (test by dividing n/5)

Maybe tricky-- but a square is a rectangle with all sides equal.
