Answer:

The area of the framed portrait is given by

A=1.5w²+10w+16

where A is in square inches and w is width of the portrait in inches.

Explanation:

Given that, a portrait without its frame has height 1.5 times its width w (in inches).

The height of the portrait is (1.5×w)

= 1.5w inches

The frame is 2 inches wide all along its perimeter.

Then, the height of the portrait with frame is = (1.5w+2×2) inches

=(1.5w+4) inches.

The width of the portrait with frame is=(w+2×2) inches

=(w+4) inches.

The area of the portrait with frame is = length×width

=(1.5w+4)(w+4)

=(1.5w²+4w+6w+16)

=(1.5w²+10w+16)

The area of the framed portrait is given by

A=1.5w²+10w+16

where A is in square inches and w is width of the portrait in inches.
