Can someone help me on this. The perimeter of a rectangle is 98 feet. The ratio of it's length to its width is 5:2. Find the area of the rectangle.

Answer: 490 sq ft

Explanation:

Since the ratio is 5:2, you can add both those numbers to get the total number of segments.

5+2=7

After this, you can divide 98 by 7 to get the length of each segment.

98/7=14

Then, to get the length for one side, you multiply 5 by 14 because there are 5 segments that are 14 feet.

5*14=70

Then take this number and divide by half because there are 2 sides that represent the length in a rectangle.

70/2=35

Then do the same for width.

2*14=28

28/2=14

Finally multiply 14 by 35 to get the answer.

14*35=490 sq ft
